Sustainable Technologies Research Centre
About
The Sustainable Technology Research Centre is a multi-disciplinary centre developed initially with support from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Science Research Investment Fund. The Centre has an interdisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, hydrologists, material and computer image scientists who work covering a wide range of topics including:
- Concrete technology & sustainable construction;
- Masonry;
- Structural design;
- Recycling/reuse of waste;
- Slope stability; and
- Efficient energy use and distribution
Recent research, led by Professor Limbachiya, has been concentrated on various aspects of the design and use of concrete, cement science and sustainable construction, achieved through recycling and reuse of waste materials. Detailed investigations assessing chemical-mineralogical characteristics of key construction materials and products are also currently underway.
