Dr Sarah Barman

The work is focussed into two main areas.

The first, retinal vessel segmentation and quantification, focuses on the development of automated segmentation algorithms that allow width and tortuosity of vessels to be automatically quantified. These measurements allow our collaborative partners at St George's to work on assessing links between retinal vessel characteristics and cardiovascular disease risk factors.

The second area focuses on the development of automated recognition algorithms to detect and quantify abnormalities related to diabetic retinopathy such as exudates and, more recently, new vessel growth.
