Complex Flow Systems Research Group (CFSRG)
The Complex Flow Systems research group conducts multi-disciplinary research on a wide range of topics including aerodynamics, thermo-fluids, energy system and granular flow. Its work is characterised by the diversity in methodology and approach: theoretical, simulation and modelling and analysis and experiment.
The work is closely linked with several EPSRC supported networks including the UK Turbulence Consortium (UKTC), the Physiological Flow, and Condensed-phase Reactive Flow. Several ongoing research projects are supported by EPSRC, Leverhulme Trust, and Siemens Industrial Turbo-machinery.
Activities
Our activities can be broadly divided into the following themes:
- Direct and large-eddy simulation of transitional and turbulent flows
- Shock and boundary-layer interactions
- Aerodynamics
- Thermo-fluids
- Energy system
- Granular flow
