Digital Information Research Centre

A novel solution capable of guaranteeing seamless, dynamic and reliable wireless communication over multiple communication bearers

A knowledge transfer partnership (KTP) grant worth £262,000 has been awarded to develop new technologies enabling seamless, ubiquitous connectivity over wireless technologies.

The developed system will assess the quality of available communication channels including 3G, 4G, WiFI and satellite in real time and on the basis of the information gathered will select the fastest or most cost effective route. The solution will switch seamlessly between channels enabling users to optimise connectivity regardless of location. These new developments will have relevance to a number of key markets including government, military and the private sector.
