MSc by Research & Dissertation
All Schools within the Faculty offer an MSc by Research degree. This course enables you to pursue an individual programme of research in a wide range of areas covered by the Faculty. It involves conducting a specific research investigation via an approved project and the presentation and examination of a dissertation. The award of MSc by Research is at the same level as the MPhil, and carries 180 credits. The programme lasts one year full time or two years part time.
Assessment
Assessment is through preparation and submission of a dissertation, typically 10,000 words, which will be the subject of an oral examination, in which you will show how you have critically investigated your research project and made an independent and original contribution to knowledge.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, students normally need a first or second class honours degree, or equivalent, in a subject appropriate to the proposed programme of study. Applications will also be considered from individuals without formal qualifications at this level (but with substantial relevant experience), providing they can satisfy the admissions tutor of their motivation and ability to work at MSc level.
English Language Requirements
English language entry requirements are IELTS 6.5, or TOEFL 570+
