Doctoral School
The Doctoral School is the home for all of our Postgraduate research students. We are responsible for the admission, monitoring and examination of students, as well as professional training to ensure they leave us as good researchers.
Welcome to the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing.
The Doctoral School provides a focus and a home for research students, looking after most aspects of research student life. We administer recruitment, progress monitoring, and thesis submission, as well as offering numerous opportunities for the training that is essential for a modern graduate student. Here you have the capability to share your ideas and views with other research students across the Faculty and beyond, as well as a chance to interact more widely with Faculty and University staff.
On this website you will find lots of useful information, including links to relevant documentation needed for graduate studies. As well as this, there is news coverage of some of the exciting projects our students are working on with Faculty staff, ranging from predicting the likelihood of fuel explosions, through development of intelligent visual surveillance systems, to advanced new doping tests for elite athletes. Other opportunities available for students, such as grants, bursaries or other awards, as well as potential employment routes, are also available.
Providing a great student experience is at the heart of the operations of the Doctoral School, and we aim to do all we can to ensure this. Please feel free to email me any improvements you would propose to this website, or to the operation of the Doctoral School.
