London, UK - June 8th, 2012 – Colossal Games is proud to announce that its founder and Managing Director Charles Burt has joined Kingston University’s Computing and Information Systems (CIS) Industrial Advisory Board alongside industry giants Google, Microsoft, IBM and EasyJet.
The purpose of the advisory board is to give advice on strategic issues relating to the direction of the University’s professional activity and to dynamically review its educational programme in partnership with the University.
“It is an honour to be providing input on Kingston University’s computer-related courses alongside such highly-regarded companies. The reason I studied games at university is because I found it difficult to find enough information and help to build my own games. I went into University with the aim of having built one small game by the time I finished the course, and I came out with six,” Mr Burt said. “I find it hard to believe I would be sitting here today doing what I do best, without being educated first. I work closely with colleges and universities to help refine their games-related courses with the aim of improving the skills of the students who graduate from them. Ultimately we hope to provide better games in the future, and these are the people who we need to pass on our experience to in order to achieve that aim.”
Meetings are held twice a year at Kingston University in London, with each agenda set around a particular theme. The board membership has been carefully selected to ensure an excellent representation of the industries Kingston University serves and, at the same time, to provide an opportunity for its partners to benefit from sharing their expertise.
The Head of Kingston University’s School of Computing and Information Systems, Professor Vensa Brujic-Okretic, said Mr Burt would provide an invaluable addition to the advisory board. “We are delighted to have ambitious, agile, innovative companies such as Colossal Games as partners. They play an important role helping us in our work to shape the sophisticated games development professionals of the future,” she added.
