Short Course
Course Aims
To introduce students to the management and improvement of quality in products and processes, and to the available supporting tools and techniques
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
- Describe and critically discuss product liability, and product liability prevention programmes
- Describe and critically discuss quality management and quality management systems, and their implementation in manufacturing industry
- Describe, critically discuss and apply quality tools and techniques, and describe and critically discuss their implementation in manufacturing industry
Contribution to UK-SPEC Outcomes
- A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of mathematical models relevant to the mechanical and related engineering disciplines, and an appreciation of their limitations
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of management and business practices, and their limitations, and how these may be applied appropriately to strategic and tactical issues
- Awareness of the framework of relevant legal requirements governing engineering activities, including personnel, health, safety, and risk (including environmental risk) issues
- Awareness of quality issues

Candidates whose first language is not English will be required to show evidence of an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
