E-Engineering with Internet Applications
Short Course
Course Aims
- Introduce the students to the essential aspects of E-Engineering, its potential benefits and impacts, particularly in different engineering companies
- Explore the techniques of using the internet to facilitate various engineering design and management objectives
- Discuss and develop web strategy for engineering companies.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
- Understand the basics of internet, Web page design and the criteria to design a good web site
- Understand the impacts of E-Engineering in engineering companies
- Understand the basic building blocks for internet, server, and databases technologies
- Assess the likely impact and develop a suitable web strategy for an engineering company
- Ability to appreciate, assess and recommend improvement with an existing web site
Contribution to UK-SPEC Outcomes
- (US4m) A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the role and limitations of ICT, and an awareness of developing technologies in ICT
- (E1m) Ability to use fundamental knowledge to investigate new and emerging technologies
- (D1m) Wide knowledge and comprehensive understanding of design processes and methodologies and the ability to apply and adapt them in unfamiliar situations
- (S2m) Extensive knowledge and understanding of management and business practices, and their limitations, and how these may be applied appropriately to strategic and tactical issues

Candidates whose first language is not English will be required to show evidence of an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
