Study resources

Find out more about the study resources available across the University:

  • Is there a dedicated place for Postgraduate Students?

  • We have a graduate centre which includes space for private study, meetings and seminars with computing facilities and a social space.

  • How many libraries are there at Kingston?

  • There are four libraries, known as Learning Resources Centres (LRCs), at Kingston. They offer much more than just academic text loans - as printed/electronic journals, a newspaper archive, CD-ROMs, DVDs and videos are also available.

The LRCs provide zoned study areas with clusters of PCs and wireless connectivity for laptop use - including free internet and email access.

  • What about IT resources?

  • At Kingston University, you'll have access to around 2,000 networked computers, plus specialist software for your own subject area and central support from our technical team.

  • I've heard about StudySpace and My Kingston. What are these?

  • You can use StudySpace, our online learning resource, from any internet-enabled computer - at any time. This means you can choose when and where you study. It is designed to complement your teaching and provide access to:

    • course materials - such as lecture notes, backup materials, presentations and previous exam papers
    • online chatrooms and bulletin boards - so you can interact with staff and other students
    • multimedia features - such as audio-visual instrument tutorials for music students and video tutorials for science students

My Kingston is our student intranet, which provides everything you need to know about student life at Kingston. It can help you get your bearings in your first few weeks here and keep you plugged into the University's community afterwards. You can also buy, sell or swap second-hand textbooks using the BookSmart link on the My Kingston site.

View some screenshots from My Kingston for a preview of what to expect.

  • Will I have a Kingston University email account?

  • Yes - all students will have a free Kingston University email address. This is a useful way for your tutors and the library service to keep in touch with you, as well as friends of course!
