Biography

Head of School and Professor, Geography, Geology and the Environment, Kingston University.

Prior to this Professor Gillmore was Head of Department of Geography and Environmental Science, University of Bradford.

Research Interests

Radon, health and geology. Radon in caves, mines, homes and workplaces. Radium pollution and radioluminescent materials. The application of sedimentary analysis (+ microfossils) to reconstructing past environments (Mesozoic to Recent; recent work has been in the field of geoarchaeology.

Environmental health; petrology (igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary); field and lab skills; sedimentology; micropalaeontology and palaeoenvironments; geoarchaeology; geoforensics; geomorphology (e.g. coastal; glacial; slopes); concepts and issues in geography; geophysical and geomedical hazards; petroleum studies; Energy resources (coal and nuclear); air quality management; pollution; land degradation and management; managing environmental change; environmental biotechnology; projects; fieldwork leadership (home/overseas).
